How Shipping Works for Heavy Gym Equipment in Canada and the US

Heavy equipment costs money to move, so we want you to know what shipping will cost before you pay. Here is how it works at HAJEX, and a few ways to keep it down.

How your shipping is calculated

Your shipping is based on two things: the total weight of your order and the region it is going to. Each order also carries one fixed handling fee. The exact amount appears at checkout before you pay, and you can check it earlier with Estimate shipping in your cart.

We ship from two warehouses, in Anjou (Montreal), Quebec and in Delta, British Columbia. Our regions reflect the distance from the warehouse that serves your order:

  • Canada: Central (Quebec and Ontario), West (British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan), Atlantic (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island) and North (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut).
  • United States: Near, Mid and Far regions, plus US territories and APO/FPO addresses. Our shipping policy lists which states fall in each region.

Because the rate follows weight and distance, a pair of dumbbells to Ontario costs far less to ship than a full plate set to Texas. You pay for the shipment you are actually receiving.

How long delivery takes

Orders placed before 3:00 PM Eastern Time are usually prepared within 1 to 2 business days. After that, typical transit times are:

  • Quebec and Ontario: 1 to 4 business days
  • Western Canada: 2 to 6 business days
  • Atlantic Canada: 3 to 7 business days
  • US Near: 4 to 7 business days
  • US Mid: 5 to 9 business days
  • US Far: 6 to 11 business days
  • US territories and APO/FPO: 10 to 21 business days

Delivery times to Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut vary by community, and we confirm them after you order. All times are estimates, and customs checks can add time to cross-border shipments.

Shipping to the United States: duties included

US orders ship Delivered Duty Paid. Import duties, customs clearance and brokerage are already included in the shipping amount you see at checkout, and we don't add US sales tax. There is nothing to pay when your order arrives. If a carrier ever asks you for money at the door, refuse it and contact us.

US tariffs change often. If the actual duties on your order come in well above our estimate, we contact you before it ships, and you can go ahead, adjust the order, or cancel for a full refund.

Ways to pay less for shipping

  • Pick up for free. Collect your order at our Anjou or Delta warehouse. Pickups are by appointment, so call or email before you come.
  • Use local delivery. If you live near one of our warehouses, our own truck may deliver for a flat fee. The option appears at checkout when your address qualifies.
  • Combine items into one order. The handling fee applies once per order, so one order with plates, a bar and collars costs less to ship than three separate orders.
  • Compare before you buy. Add items to your cart and use Estimate shipping to see how a lighter or heavier set changes the cost.
  • Ask about very large orders. Orders over 10,000 LB are quoted individually, and large commercial orders paid by bank transfer may qualify for free shipping. Contact us for details.

What to expect on delivery day

Heavy items arrive as separate boxes or on a pallet, and standard delivery is to the curb or your building entrance. Please be available to receive your order and keep a clear, safe path for the driver. If a box arrives visibly damaged, refuse it or tell us within 24 hours, and keep the packaging until the carrier's claim is settled.
